Horrendous moment cruel thug in Perth grabs cat called Blossom by the tail and hurls her seven metres onto concrete

A man was fined $2,000 after he was caught picking up a cat by the tail and throwing it several meters away.

The 38-year-old man was convicted under the Animal Welfare Act in the Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday, exactly two years after the sickening act of cruelty.

CCTV footage shows the man sneaking up behind the cat, named Blossom, outside her home on Sheldon St in Piara Waters around midnight on January 16, 2022.

The man then grabbed Blossom by her tail and threw her between five and seven meters across the concrete driveway.

The man and his three friends laughed as Blossom landed on her side in front of the house next door.

A 38-year-old man from Piara Waters was fined $2,000 for picking up a cat named Blossom by the tail and throwing her seven meters away.

Blossom was assessed twice by a vet after being abused and given pain relief.

However, her owners said her behavior has changed and she has become “quite clingy.”

Magistrate Kelly Thompson acknowledged the man was genuinely remorseful for his actions, but said his offending was “serious in the sense of grabbing the animal and throwing it into the air.”

He was fined $2,000 and given a judgment.

RSPCA inspector manager Kylie Green said there was no place in society for such brazen behavior.

“Fortunately, most people can see that these types of acts are downright cruel and there is nothing smart or funny about them,” she said.

‘This would have been a terrifying ordeal for Blossom and painful for her owners to watch. I’m glad they all got a little bit of justice today with this decision.”

The RSPCA is urging the community to report incidents of suspected cruelty and neglect on 1300 CRUELTY (1300 278 358) or at rspca.org.au.
