Fulham Gardens, Adelaide: Body found after massive blaze engulfed one-storey home in horror house fire
One person has died in a horrific house fire in Adelaide’s western suburbs, despite the efforts of heroic neighbours and firefighters battling the blaze.
Police and firefighters were called to Shannon Street in Fulham Gardens at around 8am on Saturday after reports of smoke and flames coming from the house.
The one-story house was completely destroyed by the fire.
Rocco Salerno, 73, who lives across the street with his wife Jane, said he called 911 after seeing flames coming from the front window.
“I was just surprised, something I had never seen before,” he said The advertiser.
‘There’s been problems at that house before, so I thought something was wrong. We didn’t know anyone died there.”
Mr Salerno, who has lived on the streets for more than 30 years, said they did not know the people in the house that burned down.
He recalled another incident on the property several years ago, in which another person, “about 30 or 40 years old,” had died.

“I think they had the heat on in the room and then something happened to him,” he said.
Another local woman said she had been doing pilates around 7am and when she returned, her husband had given the baby and dog to the neighbours.
She said her husband and another man tried to break the windows to see if anyone was in the house, but they couldn’t find anyone.
“The whole house was on fire,” she said.
SA Police and detectives remained on the scene until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Major crimes detectives have launched an investigation.
