Perry Farrell’s wife says Jane’s Addiction frontman seeking medical help after onstage fight with Dave Navarro

Etty Lau Farrell, the wife of Perry Farrell, says her husband has visited multiple doctors after an onstage “outburst” toward bandmate Dave Navarro earlier this month during a Jane’s Addiction concert in Boston.

Etty, 49, posted a message on Instagram on Saturday addressing the fallout from the incident between the 65-year-old singer and the 57-year-old guitarist, which led to Jane’s Addiction canceling the remainder of their Imminent Redemption tour.

“We’re taking some time for ourselves, to reflect and heal,” Etty said. “Perry already has appointments with an ENT and a neurologist.”

An ENT doctor focuses on treating the ears, nose and throat, while a neurologist focuses on the brain and nervous system.

Etty added: ‘If you know Perry well and love her, you know I don’t have to address the other false stories. Our souls know.’

Etty said the following about the confrontation with Navarro: ‘We are as shocked as you are by Perry’s physical outburst, but you must know that Perry was pushed to the limit. We apologize for that.’

Etty said she and her husband were “extremely grateful and very humbled” by the support they received from people who “kept reaching out to us over and over again asking if we were being well looked after.”

Etty said that friends have offered us ‘love and sympathy, kind words and even your homes to escape to…’ and that her husband ‘will persevere’, ‘will recover’ and ‘will be happy again.’

She added: “He will once again be able to share his music, vision and artistry unhindered.”

Etty added: ‘Make no mistake, when he is ready, he will once again take a giant leap over obstacles to make us laugh, think and together change the world.’

Etty concluded by saying: ‘Then we can cheer together. And you will know that we could not have done it without you.’

The post was accompanied by the caption: ‘Love. Kindness. Compassion. Mercy.’

Etty wrote in a September 14 post that Farrell was “suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night,” leading up to the incident.

Jane’s Addiction released a statement offering their “sincere apologies” and canceling the rest of their programming.

“To all the fans, the band has made the difficult decision to take a break as a group for a while,” the group said. “As a result, they are canceling the remainder of the tour.”

Farrell said on his Instagram Stories: “This weekend has been incredibly difficult and now that I’ve had the time and space to reflect on it, it feels only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions at Friday’s show.

“Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full responsibility for the way I handled the situation.”
