It’s because fans praised her ‘stunning’ second single Tears, released last week, as she revealed her son Axel, two, is on her forthcoming debut album.

Perrie showed off her singing qualities in Tears, the sequel to Don’t Forget About Us from April.

Her debut single was number one in the Big Top 40 chart for two weeks and reached the top 10 of the official charts.

Perrie performed Don’t Forget About Us, Tears and Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance With Somebody in a dazzling gold dress at the Capital Summertime Ball on Sunday.

Perrie told Heart FM last week that fans will be able to hear Axel when the as-yet-untitled album is released because he ‘loves’ to sing and she ‘can’t get rid of him’ when she’s in her home studio.

Perrie added: ‘But he’s only two… three in August. He comes in and says, “I’m going to sing a song.” And you just stand there and I think, “Oh my god.”

“All the producers and writers and everyone in the room should just stand there and listen to ‘Let it go’ and repeat the same few lyrics over and over… and it just keeps going… He thrives on people paying him attention to give.’

Where Don’t Forget About Us was a pop ballad by Ed Sheeran with country music influences, Tears is a smooth soul with an 80s atmosphere.

In the song, Perrie regrets the tears she wasted on her ex. She knows she will never get it back, but swears he will never see her cry again.

She described the inspiration for the song this way: ‘This song is about overcoming a bad situation and letting go of what happened in the past.

“It’s the point where you feel empowered and you leave the tears behind because you’ve come out the other side. It’s a sultry and smooth track that I’m really looking forward to showing you all.”

Speaking on Capital Breakfast last week, Perrie discussed the difficulties of following up a strong debut.

She admitted: ‘There is a bit of pressure. I think there’s a bit of pressure because it’s so different. But I warned everyone. I did bring up a disclaimer.

‘When I was promoting Forget About Us. I was like, my second single and third single are so different from the first. So I think you know what I mean by that, because Tears is totally different sonically.’
