Perrie Edwards fans went crazy when the former Little Mix star released her debut solo single Forget About Us on Friday.
The 30-year-old singer, who collaborated with Ed Sheeran on the song, saw her impressive vocals labeled as the ‘voice of a generation’ within hours of its release as the catchy tune hit number 1 on the UK iTunes.
Perrie has dropped her surname as she embarks on her solo career with her first song, which includes an upcoming video directed by Beyoncé collaborator Jake Nava, that has fans already ‘obsessed’.

Perry does following in the footsteps of former band members Leigh-Anne Pinnock And Jesy Nelson by going solo.
And the singer, who was previously engaged to Direction’s Zayn Malik before footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain revealed the new song was inspired by her past, said: “I look back on past relationships and remember those times fondly.”

She confessed, “I am so proud of what I have done and created. Most of all, I wanted it to be fun and showcase my singing through ballads and big vocal numbers.”

Perrie explained: ‘I feel like all the collaborations came about organically. He had a song with Ed Sheeran and he called me about it and we discussed the concept.”
She continued, “I loved the melody, the atmosphere. I look up to him so much, I think he’s one of the most talented people on the planet.
“He’s also such a kind and genuine person, so that’s why I felt comfortable saying, ‘I think it’s great, but conceptually it’s not me. I’m not at that stage of my life right now. Would you mind if I adjusted the text so that it suits me and my life?”
“And he was like, ‘Of course!’ He wanted me to have full ownership of it, so I went away and did that.”

‘It was ridiculous to go into the studio with her, she just radiates stardom, I can’t explain it – I think she’s one of the greatest artists of our generation.
“I’ve been lucky that the people I’ve idolized have been really nice to work with. There were no big egos or intimidating moments, I think that’s what made the experience so special for me.”
Formed in 2010 from The X Factor, Little Mix enjoyed huge success during their 11-year recording career before announcing their split in December 2021.

But the band members have suffered mixed fortunes since splitting with Jesy – who left the band in 2020 – parting ways with her label in 2022 after a lukewarm response to her debut single Boyz.
The singer later independently released second solo single Bad Thing, but the song failed to break into the UK top 100 singles chart.
Jesy has since scrapped plans to release third single Cried Out in favor of an ‘up-tempo banger’ which she claims is ‘me in a nutshell’, sources said.
An insider told The Mirror: ‘Jesy has listened to her critics. She’s desperate to give fans something epic and is doing everything she can to find her authentic sound, but the sudden change has upset her camp.
‘Last year it was thought that most of her debut album was ready – even the artwork was ready – but Jesy has made a huge turnaround since then and everything is being reworked, even the aesthetic, as it doesn’t suit her new album. -pace direction.’
In 2022, Leigh-Anne signed her own solo deal with Warner Records and released the debut single Don’t Say Love in June 2023.
