‘Perhaps he really is our agent’: Russian state TV celebrates Elon Musk as ‘Elon the Muscovite’ after he posted Ukraine War meme mocking Zelensky

Russian state television has praised Elon Musk as a “Muscovite” and suggested he “really is our agent” after the billionaire posted a meme ridiculing Volodymr Zelensky.

The meme, posted on Musk’s social media site

The photoshopped image, which mocks Zelensky’s pleas for wartime aid as the future of U.S. aid to Kiev hangs in the balance, is likely to escalate Musk’s feud with Ukraine.

However, the move received praise from Russia, with state television presenter Olga Skabeyeva describing the technology mogul on Russia-1 on Monday as ‘Elon the Muscovite’.

“Elon Musk is magnificent, he is great and maybe he really is our agent,” she said, discussing “war fatigue” in the US after the US Congress bill was passed to prevent a shutdown that withheld aid to Ukraine .

Zelensky visited the United States in September and met with top officials in Washington in an effort to secure further aid as Kiev continues its counter-offensive.

However, this weekend aid to Ukraine was left out of an emergency funding measure passed by the US Congress to prevent a US government shutdown.

The US has been Ukraine’s biggest donor since last year’s Russian invasion, providing tens of billions of dollars in military and financial aid.

But cutting $6 billion in funding from the bill will worry Ukraine and its allies amid fears that rifts are emerging in the West over support for Kiev.

Ukraine is already nervously eyeing the possibility of a return to the White House by Republican former President Donald Trump, who has previously praised Putin.

President Joe Biden has sought to reassure Kiev that it will get the funding it needs.
