Pep Guardiola once fined Gerard Pique for partying after a cup defeat
The exasperated Pep Guardiola once fined Gerard Pique for PARTYING after a cup defeat to Sevilla…
Gerard Pique’s party lifestyle at Barcelona landed him in trouble with boss Pep Guardiola – and one time in particular stands out.
The former Barca defender told it all during a recent appearance on Jijantes’ Twitch stream, in which he revealed that Guardiola’s irritation led to a penalty after Pique celebrated after a cup exit by Sevilla.
Pique – who previously revealed he once got into trouble for wearing short sleeves in the snow – was known to be a party animal and the results didn’t dampen his appetite for going out, much to Guardiola’s chagrin.
Barcelona had beaten Sevilla 1–0 in the first leg, but were knocked out after a 2–1 defeat in the second leg, with Pique an unused substitute in that match.
“After two or three days he caught me again, fined me again and left me outside,” he explained. ‘I was 22 years old at the time and went outside more than in the sun!’

Pique makes little apology for his party lifestyle as a young player, then in his early twenties.
“I went out the day after the game, I went out the next day, then you didn’t go out the day before the game… people still didn’t recognize me.”
In his first year at Barcelona, team-mate Carles Puyol was his partner in crime at these all-night parties, but it wouldn’t last.
“Puyi never went out,” he added. “He went out two or three times and it was rumored that Puyi went to a party. He screwed himself and never went out again.’
That didn’t deter Pique, as he confessed to continuing to go out despite teammates thinking better of it and ticking his manager off.
Nevertheless, Pique was quick to point out that the pair’s relationship was very good for the most part after he rejoined the club from Manchester United.
Pique returned to his youth club from Barcelona in the summer of 2008, about a month before Guardiola became manager, and quickly became a key player at the heart of the defence.
The centre-half won three LaLiga titles and two Champions League titles under Guardiola, who then joined German giants Bayern Munich in 2012.
