Pep Guardiola has a huge dilemma over his goalkeepers following Ederson’s surprise return to training.
Ederson’s season looked to be in jeopardy when he was ruled out with a shoulder injury during last weekend’s win at Nottingham Forest, leaving the City Ground in a slump.
Scans showed the Brazilian had done no lasting damage before returning to training on Wednesday, and Guardiola confirmed he is fit for today’s visit to Wolves.
The City boss selected number 2 Stefan Ortega for the trip to Real Madrid last month when Ederson was available.
“Eddy is the first choice, but we rely incredibly on Stefan,” Guardiola said. ‘We have two incredible goalkeepers, incredible. I sleep very well with these caregivers.

‘It is very nice that the injury afterwards was not as we expected. He was in a lot of pain, but the ligaments were not broken.’
Ortega’s future is unclear, as the 31-year-old German wants regular matches. He could leave in the summer. “I would like him to stay, and the club would like him to stay,” Guardiola added.
Unlike Ortega, Phil Foden still has years left at City and after being crowned the Football Writers’ Association’s Footballer of the Year, Guardiola claimed the 23-year-old can become one of the club’s greatest ever players.
“If he continues his career here until the end and continues at that level, he can become one of the best, that’s for sure. It depends on him, it’s that simple.’

Guardiola also tipped Foden to fire England to European Championship glory. “Everyone feels like the England national team is on the brink, they are very close,” he said.
Meanwhile, City celebrated a double FWA win as Bunny Shaw collected the Women’s Footballer of the Year award.
