Pep Guardiola responded bluntly to comments from Everton boss Sean Dyche who questioned why the Toffees have been punished for Manchester City despite being charged after the Premier League champions.
It’s now more than a year since City were accused of breaching financial regulations and are still awaiting a verdict on their 115 alleged offences.
Everton were charged a month later and were given a 10-point deduction in November, a decision they are appealing. The Toffees, along with Nottingham Forest, were again accused last month of breaching the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules.
Ahead of Everton’s visit to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, Dyche questioned why different rules seemed to apply to different clubs after the Toffees were punished after being charged later than City.
Guardiola said at his own press conference today: ‘I know my opinion on that. I have spoken many times. I have nothing further to add. We will wait.’

The Spaniard has previously asked for City’s ruling to be expedited, but has accepted that the complexity of the case means more time is needed to deal with the charges.
He fired back at UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin last month for comments that the European government was right to punish Manchester City for financial irregularities.
Asked whether City’s charges are taking longer to resolve than Everton’s, Dyche said: ‘Like everyone else, we all wonder what makes one rule for one and another for another.
‘I think that’s the only thing. I don’t know the ins and outs for any reason, but I think we’re all wondering.
‘People on the street wonder: ‘Why is it mainly Everton?’ I don’t know what the exact number is, but they are referring to over 100 charges.
‘I don’t know the implications of that either, I don’t know the details of the charges, but hey, we have one. Just go with your common sense, I’m not talking about the rules.
Guardiola prefers to wait to comment on City’s accusations, despite Dyche asking questions about the reigning Premier League champions
‘I’m not questioning Man City or anything they have done or not done. The thing is, it’s definitely a long time. That story about all these charges has been going around for a while.
“So how does that happen” and where are everyone else’s charges? What happens to them? I don’t even know how you answer so many charges when there are so many. I don’t know the variants of what the allegations are.”
