Pep Guardiola delivers huge Man City injury boost revealing Erling Haaland ‘will be selected’ for their Premier League clash against Burnley after missing the last 10 games with a foot injury
Erling Haaland is set to make his long-awaited return for Manchester City after almost two months away with a foot injury.
The Premier League top scorer was unable to walk after a defeat at Aston Villa last month and then suffered a setback in his recovery after Christmas.
Haaland has made it through a number of training sessions without pain and is likely to get minutes on Wednesday night when City host Burnley.
“It’s the first time he’s back,” said Pep Guardiola. ‘We have the whole team, we are stronger. He is an important player for us.’
Guardiola does not believe Haaland’s workload will be managed in the same way as Kevin De Bruyne as the problem was not muscular.

The Norwegian broke the top-flight goals record in his debut season in English football but is in a race to win this year’s Golden Boot with Mo Salah, Son Heung-Min and Dominic Solanke.
Haaland will give City a major boost in their quest for a fourth straight title, while Manuel Akanji – the club’s only remaining absentee – also trained on Monday.
“We are taking it one game at a time,” Guardiola added. “We’ve made these runs in the past because we focused on just one game. It’s about Burnley, Burnley, Burnley.
The Man City boss also stated that Manuel Akanji would return to action after a knee injury
‘It doesn’t matter what we have done in the past, but I am happy that almost the entire team is fit. Manu is back, yesterday he trained very well without knee problems and so did John (Stones).
‘That is the best news for an important part of the season. Of course, in the FA Cup and the Champions League it is important to have everyone involved.’
