Pep Guardiola consoled a distraught Leroy Sane after Manchester City won 4-1 in the Champions League knockout tie at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.
Sane’s Bayern Munich failed to respond in earnest to City’s dominance over two legs as the Premier League side progressed to their third successive European semi-final.
Guardiola previously worked with Sane before the German moved to Munich in 2020, but photos after meeting full-time in the Champions League show the pair still maintain a good relationship.
One image shows Sane holding his face with one hand as he appears to be wiping away tears with his fist after Bayern were knocked out of the prestigious competition.
The City boss extends his hand in support and takes a moment to talk to the 27-year-old winger who was full-time emotional.
