Pep Guardiola praised Kevin De Bruyne after the midfielder scored the winner against Leicester
Guardiola said of BT Sport: “He’s back. He didn’t play well the last games, today he was great. He knows. He’s a player who needs the dynamics and needs to be free, but it’s hard with a back five and four players close to the back five. We have an exceptional team, you have to be patient and don’t give away any set pieces. At the end we played a low rhythm and we suffered.’
Pundit Rio Ferdinand declared that De Bruyne is ‘without a doubt’ the best midfielder in the Premier League, while claiming the Belgian enjoys producing decisive moments.
Ferdinand said: ‘Created the most chances and the most assists in the league. I think it’s the defining moments in games, controlling the rhythm.
“He’s improved his skills, it’s about making sure he’s in the right position to influence the game and others around him. He is without a doubt the best midfielder in the league. There is no one close to him in terms of performance, how he plays, the way he influences. He really is a joy to watch.’
