People shocked after McDonald’s employee reveals little-known ordering fact

A TikToker has revealed what really happens when your McDonald’s order reaches $50 – and why employees are scared when it happens.

Creator Kaalen posted a video of himself covering his face in annoyance, while an on-screen caption read, “when the order gets closer and closer to the $50 mark and now you have to stop them to get a manager.”

According to the creator, McDonald’s operations require a manager to oversee and confirm an order once it reaches the $50 mark.

This explains why once the order reaches that amount, the associate must wait for the manager to enter their code number and approve the transaction before resuming the order.

McDonald’s employee and creator Kaalen shared his concerns about $50 orders requiring manager approval

According to creator Kaalen, McDonalds operations require a manager to monitor and confirm an order once it reaches the $50 mark

While it’s unclear whether this applies to all or specific locations, one commenter wrote: ‘They had to disable this in my store [because] the customers almost always have orders over $50’

At most businesses, when a customer pays in cash using larger banknotes, they usually need to be checked by a manager as part of their fraud prevention policy.

However, this policy within McDonalds appears to apply to any transaction up to this amount; another commenter claimed their store had an even lower limit.

The commenter wrote: ‘it costs $25 at my store and my God I could cry every time this happens’

Another said: ‘I would just memorize all the managers pins because I would get tired of this’

Kaalen revealed that the managers often told the employees their codes because they were usually ‘too busy to get there and do it’

Many viewers shared similar sentiments about managers’ approval of large orders that slowed down processes at fast food stores like McDonalds

To which Kaalen responded that managers sometimes told employees their code to avoid the inconvenience, Kaalen wrote, “they’re always too busy to get there and do it.”

Many have commented on the rising prices, meaning the $50 limit is now coming much sooner than it used to.

“$50 is like 3 meals. I can’t even get 50 McChickens anymore,” someone said.

“Like $50 isn’t even that much food at most fast food places these days,” wrote another.

Some were unaware of the process going on behind the counter, with one writing: ‘As a family of six we always spend so much. I had no idea this was a thing.”

Others have shared experiences where their workplace had a similar policy, causing chaos during their shift.

One said: ‘One time it was 100 and my manager was nowhere to be seen, I was dying’

‘[I] was in the back booth and someone wanted to add something to their order and I said, “Oh… wait a minute, I need a manager,” so I stood awkwardly while I waited,” another wrote.
