People reveal the bizarre first date disasters that put them off meeting for a second time
People from all over the world share the awkward and unpleasant first date disasters that kept them from going on a second date.
The unlucky daters shared their stories on Reddit, in response to a question from US forum user @whiteneywestmoreland.
On the r/AskReddit subreddit, the anonymous user wrote a after asking others to share their experiences.
In the post, they wrote, “What happened on a first date that made you decide not to go on a second date?”
The question sparked 5,200 comments (at the time of writing), over 7,600 likes, and a shocking array of stories highlighting the ignorance, unpleasantness, arrogance, and idiosyncrasies of some daters.

One person wrote about a time when they met a man who tried to control the meal during the date, saying, “He tried to change my order because I didn’t order what he recommended.”
Another user was postponed for a second date because the person they met used a dirty pocket knife to cut a slice of cake for them.
They wrote: ‘He cut off a slice of cake for me with his pocket knife and later scraped some dirt nuggets off his shoe with the same knife. I asked him if he had ever cleaned his knife and he replied, “No, why?”.
The user continued, “He also confessed that same day that he was madly in love with me. We had just met.’
In another shockingly anti-social move, one person revealed that their date told them, “The welts on my crotch aren’t contagious.”
And another disgruntled dater revealed that their date had “continued writing (sharing) her friends on WhatsApp a play-by-play of the date instead of listening to me.”
They concluded, “So I got up, paid for my dinner, and left because I thought it was disrespectful.”
Another annoyed person said of his date, “I talked about her ex all the time. Also halfway through she told me she was still with him. He was also her husband.’

One Reddit user was perplexed and turned off after his date spent most of the date discussing strange conspiracy theories. They wrote, “Told me that aliens cause jet lag and that I have the ghost of a fisherman following me named Samuel (on top of the 20 other bat things she said over dinner). This was last night.’
A final commenter revealed how his date didn’t stop telling him how many men were available to her in their hometown. He said, “She kept talking about the ’emergency d**k’ she had hidden around town.
“She said, ‘I can’t live without it. I’ve got enough emergency aid in town.’
“And when I say she kept going, I mean she kept going. She told me about the two boys downtown, three in the suburbs, one near campus, and two in her apartment complex.
“It honestly sounded like I was new to town and she gave me a rundown of the best places to visit.”
People in 2022 also revealed the VERY awkward things they were told on a first date — from a guy who advised his match never to lose weight to someone who brought a GUN “just in case things went wrong.”
