A 32-year-old mother who is weeks away from becoming a grandmother says she is always told she looks “too young to be a nanny.”

Shannon, from West Bromwich, who had her daughter at 16, is expecting her 16-year-old daughter to give birth to a baby boy very soon.

‘Everyone tells me that: you’re too young to be a nan!’ she said in a TikTok video, before adding ‘it is what it is’ and that she is determined to be the best grandmother she can be.

However, Shannon is by no means the UK’s youngest grandmother. That title goes to Kelly Healey, who was just 30 when her teenage daughter Skye Salter gave birth to Bailey, now four, in August 2018.

In a video on TikTok, the doting mom said: “She’s still my baby, just as much as she’s having a baby herself now.”

‘[I have] I bought her everything for the baby, because she hasn’t had any income of her own or anything, so we’ve all provided.

“That’s all I can do is just support her and be there for her, which I have.”

She also added that the people around her have been very supportive of her daughter and that everyone was preparing for the arrival.

‘We have everything, we are all ready. We are all going to be there and hopefully we can all help her and she has a safe arrival with him.

Responding to comments about her. tik tok pageShannon says that it was her daughter’s decision to have a child and that even though she didn’t expect it, she would never be “mad” about the decision.

The mother-daughter duo dance as Shannon expresses what an “amazing mommy to my grandson” her daughter will be.

Another TikTok on her page shows her dancing with her daughter Molly, captioning the video: “She’s my double.” 10 weeks to go!! I completely have it! I had her at 16 with no support and I swear on my life I will never let them down!! I have you completely.

She added that she personally does not regret giving birth as a teenager.

“I had it very young, but you know that it was the best thing that has happened to me, the best thing that has happened to me in my life,” he said.

It changed me so much as a person, it changed absolutely everything about me.

And I regret nothing, nothing.

She revealed that she was 15 when she got pregnant with her daughter, whom she names Molly, and 16 when she went into labor.

Responding to comments on her TikTok page, Shannon says it was her daughter’s decision to have a child and that while she didn’t expect it, she would never be “mad” about the decision.

Supportive comments flooded in on the young nan, with many offering their congratulations and wishing her and her daughter luck.

Explaining the story of her daughter’s birth, Shannon says she raised her daughter “for years and years” alone, with no “support”.

‘She’s never been left with nothing, never ever, I’ve always worked, I’ve always taken care of her and Molly will do the same… and she’ll always have my support no matter what.’

The young mother then adds that Molly’s father is now back in his daughter’s life and “he’s a great father”.

Shannon is going to be her daughter’s birth partner, laughing in a video ‘so she’s probably going to hit me in the neck all through labor!’

She added that while her daughter had a “really serious illness” early in the pregnancy, she is doing “very well.”

Supportive comments flooded the young nan-to-be, with many offering their congratulations and wishing her and her daughter the best of luck.

“Honestly you’re an amazing mom, the support you’re showing is unbelievable,” one commenter said.

‘Congratulations on being a nanny, the best feeling in the world. I have two grandchildren,’ said another.

‘How beautiful you are, I wish you the best. It’s great that your daughter has support,” added a TikTok user.
