People are realizing they can use their 1996 vintage calendars this year — and you can sell your old ones for $150 on eBay

Your 1996 calendar – whether it features pin-up Pamela Anderson, sitcom star Jonathan Thomas or Star Trek Deep Space Nine – could be worth hundreds of dollars.

That's because the days and dates correspond exactly to 2024 – and a wave of 1990s nostalgia means people are willing to bid for it online.

It is a rare event, normally occurring every six to eleven years. But 2024 marks the first time a 1996 calendar can be reused, because it was a leap year.

Just like in 1996, this year starts on a Monday and it is a leap year with 366 days. The pattern will not repeat itself until 2052.

Prices for 28+ calendars have soared on eBay, with many fetching between $150 and $200.

The Star Wars 1996 calendar is one of many currently being sold on eBay. The current price of the calendar is $150

Jonathan Taylor Thomas, now 42, was just 15 and starring in Home Improvement when a calendar was dedicated to the young star.

While the 'teen heartthrob'calendar was probably set at an affordable price in 1996, is likely to fetch much more these days.

It's unclear how many fans still own this calendar, but users on X (formerly Twitter) posted the cover photo of the actor who was spotted in public for the first time in two years last month.

Thomas's Home Improvement co-star Pamela Anderson had a recurring role on the show starting shortly after she began starring in the 1990s show Baywatch.

However, the blonde bombshell first rose to fame for her modeling work in beer posters and Playboy, eventually becoming Playmate of the Month in 1990.

Once her television career took off, Anderson, who played lifeguard CJ Parker on Baywatch from 1992 to 1997, was what Hollywood Life called an “iconic blonde bombshell of the 1990s.”

Social media is loving the 1996 calendar trend

Rock band REM was one of the biggest groups in the world in the 1990s, and fans often received their calendars as Christmas presents

1996 was also an Olympic year

A 1996 WWF calendar was on sale for $75 and despite the price being “a bit high,” the user bought it because of the appearance of now-retired wrestler Bret “Hitman” Hart.

“$75 is a bit high for this WWF version. Anyway, Bret 'Hitman' Hart is January!', they tweeted.

Calendars for movies and sports stars were also popular in 1996.

Twister, Space Jam, Scream and Matilda hit theaters that year.

And Boyz II Men, Whitney Houston and Celine Dion all had big hits in 1996. Rock band REM was also on tour.

The year 2024 is an Olympic year, just like 1996.

In 1996 the Olympic Games were held in Atlanta and this year they will be held in Paris.
