Speaking The Unfiltered Bride podcast, British wedding planners Georgie Mitchell and Bethany Smith revealed that wearing the color “means you slept with the groom.”

“Old Wives’ Tale, but yes,” Georgie explained.

Both also agreed that the shadow could be seen as an attempt to divert attention from the bride.

“I feel like red can be seen as pretty sexy,” Bethany added. ‘Naughty.’

“In Sweden you can’t wear red either,” one commenter added. “Neither black, because it is the color of sorrow and you wear it to funerals, so don’t go to weddings.”
