People are all saying the same thing about Australia Paralympic team’s VERY revealing outfits at the Paris Games
- Australian cycling clothing causes a lot of controversy
- Outfits are criticized for not being flattering
Although Australia enjoyed huge success at the Paris Paralympic Games, the cycling team’s kits were heavily criticised on social media for poor design.
Amanda Reid continued Australia’s good form on the track, defending her C1-3 500m time trial gold at the Paralympic Games in style on Sunday.
Reid’s first place finish added to the two gold medals won by Korey Boddington and Emily Petricola at the Paris Velodrome 24 hours earlier. However, many fans at home could not resist commenting on the Australian athletes’ questionable attire.
“It looks like an unfinished infographic about the female anatomy,” one Reddit user posted.
“He’s giving the pole vaulter competition,” said another.
“An intern would have done better,” replied a third.
A fourth posted a photo of controversial breakdancing star Rachael Gunn, writing: ‘Same people who sent this lady to wear this outfit.’
Another Reddit user suggested that the designers of the unflattering outfits probably knew what they were doing.
The outfits worn by the Australian cycling team at the Paris Games have taken a major hit
One fan described the kit as an ‘unfinished female anatomy infographic’
“Lighter colors draw attention, as anyone with any knowledge of color theory knows. Whoever designed this knew exactly what they were doing,” they posted.
Another user replied: ‘That may all be true, but it still begs the question: ‘Let’s see how much I can embarrass our athletes.’
The brazen attack on the Australian kits comes after Matildas teammates Mackenzie Arnold and Alanna Kennedy revealed they were unimpressed with their Olympic kits.
The duo uploaded a video of themselves awkwardly posing while wearing the green and gold pleated skirts with green and gold tops, prompting numerous fans to post comments mocking the designs.
Australian AFL star Daniel Gorringe also criticised the Australian uniforms worn at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics last month.
“So Australia missed the memo about turning the Olympics into a fashion week,” Gorringe said.
‘Because Mongolia looks incredible, this is Haiti and they look amazing again… a fashion statement.
“Taiwan, be cool with it. Look at them, they don’t care about the Olympics, but they look good because they have become fashion icons.”
The Australian outfit is pictured as Gorringe stares at the image in shock.
“Did we miss the memo or… what the hell kind of private school is this?” Gorringe says.
‘Luckily there are no medals for the best dressed person, because we wouldn’t even touch a bronze medal, let alone a gold or silver one.
‘Do we get netball at 11am and debate at 1pm?’
