- A Pennsylvania state police officer was killed in a shootout with a man on Saturday
- The suspect also died and a trooper was taken to the hospital with serious injuries
A Pennsylvania state agent was killed in a shootout with a man hours after the suspect opened fire on another soldier.
The first trooper was shot and seriously wounded around 12:45 a.m. Saturday in Mifflintown — a small town in central Pennsylvania — and was rushed to the hospital, according to state police.
About two hours later, the suspect was found in Walker township, about thirty miles to the north, and another shooting ensued.
The suspect and the trooper were both killed in the resulting shootout and police said their identities will be released later.

Law enforcement officers work Saturday at the scene of the second Pennsylvania shooting
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro wrote on Twitter that he had spent time in the hospital and that the first trooper is in a stable but critical condition.
State Police Colonel Christopher Paris was also at the hospital where the injured trooper was being treated, state police said. Their current condition is unknown.
Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry also issued a statement of condolence.
“Our brave law enforcement officers fight every day to protect Pennsylvania communities. As Attorney General, know that my office is behind you,” she said.

Officials said Saturday night there was no danger to the public.
The incident comes about a week after Pennsylvania state troopers shot and killed an 18-year-old street racer, who authorities say beat them after he refused to pull over.
One of the troopers then fired into the car, hitting Anthony Allegrini Jr., who died at the scene on I-95.
An investigation by the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office is ongoing, but the Pennsylvania State Police are not equipped with body-worn cameras, the Philadelphia investigator reported Thursday.
