Madeline’s character Bronte is an enigmatic and adventurous playwright who goes to work for a while in Joe’s new bookshop in London.

Filming for the final season began in March and it’s the first season without You’s co-creator Sera Gamble.

This season marks the first time Madeline will appear on the series. No returning cast members have been confirmed, other than Penn.

Penn began his role as Joe in 2018 and You originally aired on the American network Lifetime, before moving to Netflix after its first season.

You’s first storyline centers on Joe’s experiences in New York City, where he falls in love with NYU student and writer Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail).

The series moved to Los Angeles and Joe, who had now assumed the identity of Will Bettelheim, worked in a bookstore and fell in love with heiress and wellness expert Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti).

In the third season, Joe begins to build a stable life by marrying Love and starting a family, but his obsession with two new women continues.

In the fourth season, Joe moved to London, where he took on the role of Jonathan Moore, an English professor involved in high society.

In addition to Madeline, Griffin Matthews (Torchwood) and Anna Camp (True Blood) will also appear in season five.

The upcoming season, which Joe specifically requested had fewer sex scenes, was initially set to premiere sometime in 2024.

However, delays are expected as strikes at SAG-AFTRA have delayed the season’s script and production schedule.
