Nancy Pelosi questioned why Governor Ron DeSantis is flying migrants into Democratic jurisdictions, claiming Florida’s farmers need immigrants to “pick the crops down there.”

The confusing parallel was made during the House Speaker’s press conference on Friday, a few weeks after DeSantis pulled a stunt and sent a flight of 50 migrants to the wealthy Massachusetts island of Martha’s Vineyard.

“We have a shortage of workers in our country,” Pelosi said, arguing for the country that needs immigration reform.

“You see even in Florida some farmers and growers say ‘why are you shipping these immigrants up north? We need them to pick the crops down here,” she claimed.

“But that doesn’t mean we don’t recognize our moral responsibility either,” the California Democrat added.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Friday that Governor Ron DeSantis should stop sending migrants north because farmers “need them to pick the crops down here.”

A class action lawsuit was filed against DeSantis after his migrant flight with a group that claimed he misled those boarding into thinking their destinations were elsewhere.

Another flight funded by DeSantis was expected to land in President Joe Biden’s home state of Delaware this month, but never arrived.

Congress is also considering investigating Florida’s governor in response to what Democrats call a “political stunt.”

Pelosi’s comments also follow months of migrant buses from Texas and Arizona disembarking in Washington, DC, New York City and Chicago — all refuge cities that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement.

The governors of these GOP states claim they want to bring the immigration crisis to the attention of those making decisions in the country, as well as spread the wealth to alleviate the stress of border communities from the influx of migrants.

With just one month of reporting until the end of the fiscal year, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) figures show they have met more than 2 million migrants since October 2021.

The record figure comes as more migrants have died this year than any other year along the southern border illegally crossing the country.

“We have a responsibility to secure our border,” Pelosi said. “We also have a responsibility to recognize the importance of newcomers to our country.”

“Right now the best we can do for our economy is to implement a comprehensive immigration reform,” she added.

While attention was already focused on DeSantis for sending migrants north, this week all eyes were on the Sunshine State, which was hit by Category Four Hurricane Ian on Wednesday.

At least 23 people were confirmed dead on Friday morning.
