Pedro Porro reflects on working under THREE different Tottenham bosses

Pedro Porro reflects on working under THREE different Tottenham bosses since arriving in January. He admits it is ‘not easy’ to adapt to changes in coaching and is beginning to learn from hard Premier League lessons.

  • However, he has since played under rookies Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason
  • The full-back has admitted that adapting to multiple bosses has not been easy

Tottenham defender Pedro Porro has admitted he has adapted to working under three different managers and that their different methods are ‘not easy’ this season.

Wingback Porro came on loan on transfer deadline day in January after being bullied by Antoine Conte, but was also coached by Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason during a turbulent campaign that saw Spurs miss out on the top four.

As a result, the 23-year-old has had a rough start to his life in North London, although he has insisted he has tried to take the positives out of the difficulties.

Indeed, Porro revealed that he “absorbed” everything he could from each of his bosses.

“To be honest, it’s been a new experience,” he said The sun.

“I just try to absorb the best from each coach. When I first arrived, Cristian stayed when Antonio left. What little I have worked with Antonio I really enjoyed.

“I also came here because I felt I could get better with them. I really learn from everyone. Even when Cristian left, I realized that I learned a lot from him.

“Now with Ryan I know him very well, I know how he works on and off the field. I really enjoy the way he works and it’s about learning from all of them.

“What has happened has happened and it is not easy to relate to. But I really try to learn from every coach.’

Porro was once on the books at Manchester City, but failed to make an appearance before moving to Sporting Lisbon in 2022. The Premier League then beckoned earlier this year, although his transition to top-flight life has been far from smooth.

His debut came in a cathartic 4–1 defeat to Leicester and he was dragged off after 75 minutes, with Tim Sherwood criticizing his performance as ‘so bad’.

“I have plenty to learn and I am aware of that,” added Porro.

“I am a very young player, I work every day to get better. I watch the videos, I work with the team that helps me. I’ve been a defender for the last three years, but I’ve always been a striker.

“The game against Leicester really taught me a lesson. Afterwards I thought, either you pack your things, or you’re going to have a hard time.’
