Pedestrian dies after being hit by lorry at busy Melbourne intersection

A pedestrian was hit by a truck and killed on a busy strip in Melbourne on Tuesday.
The pedestrian, who has yet to be identified, was near the intersection of Burwood Road and Power Street in Hawthorn at around 9am when they were struck by the lorry.
They died at the scene while Victoria Police launched an investigation. The truck driver has spoken to officers.

Emergency services are also on site to assist with the investigation and to guide motorists.
Burwood Road is closed in both directions and there are major traffic delays at the intersection and motorists are having to take alternate routes.
Motorists have been told to use Church Street, Barkers Road, Glenferrie Road and Riversdale Roads instead.
