A woman has died after being hit by a car in Sydney’s south.
The woman, in her 60s, was out for a walk when she was hit at the junction of Forest Road and Pritchard Place in Peakhurst at around 5.45pm on Friday.
Emergency services rushed to the scene after panicked calls about the incident, which involved a 4WD
“Despite the efforts of emergency services, the pedestrian, a woman believed to be in her 60s, died at the scene,” New South Wales police said in a statement.
The driver of the SUV, a 40-year-old man, was taken to St. George’s Hospital for mandatory examination.
Specialized police arrived on the scene to investigate the cause of the incident.
Two of the three lanes on Forest Rd are closed westbound towards Pritchard Pl. Motorists are urged to avoid this area.
Long delays are expected and drivers are advised to use caution in this area.
