Hardware manufacturer PDP just launched the Victrix Gambit Prime, a wired controller that may be one to keep an eye on if you mainly play online multiplayer games.
Featuring official ‘Designed for Xbox’ branding, the Victrix Gambit Prime is compatible with Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and PC. It can be purchased from PDP’s official website, or from retailers like Amazon, for $79.99. Unfortunately, it seems to only be available in the US at the moment.
The Prime is actually significantly cheaper than its predecessor model, the Victrix Gambit ($99.99 / £89.99). Although both controllers appear the same at first glance, the Victrix Gambit Prime trades a high-quality carrying case for a compact container used to store the extra modules it comes with.
In terms of additional modules, it looks like a pretty robust package. You get four sets of analog sticks (three concave with one tall shaft and an additional convex stick), four analog stick ports (two round, two octagonal), two d-pads and two back panels for accessing the remappable buttons on the back .
Additionally, the Victrix Gambit Prime features five trigger-stop settings and input delay reduction via the controller’s Dual Core technology, which was also present in the regular Victrix Gambit. All in all, it sounds like a rich package that’s ideal for online multiplayer gaming.
In our original Victrix Gambit review, we praised its modularity and build quality, giving it four out of five stars. We recommend the controller for those who don’t quite have the budget for the more expensive (but still excellent) Victrix Pro BFG.
