Paw-what TV! Hilarious moment friendly cat crashes during live BBC Breakfast broadcast – and viewers love the reporter’s reaction

This is the hilarious moment when a friendly cat stole the show during a live BBC Breakfast report.

Earlier this week, reporter Dave Guest traveled to Manchester to film a clip about residential alleys that have been turned into “eginnel gardens.”

The broadcaster started the live report by waking up through one of the alleyways, which had been commissioned by the Royal Horticultural Society.

But when he sat down on a bench next to some potted sunflowers, the reporter was joined by a surprise guest.

After discreetly sneaking through a garden gate, a beautiful white cat ran up to him and jumped onto the sofa to make a fuss.

Dave, who had informed viewers of the RHS’s involvement in the project, took it to heart and stopped and said, ‘Oh, hello!

‘I have an unexpected guest. Hello!’

Startled by the rest of the crew, the cheeky cat looked straight at the camera.

Dave continued: ‘(The ginnel garden) was featured at the Tatton Flower Show a few weeks ago.

“It was then uprooted and transplanted into this ginnel in Moss Side.”

As he said this, Dave’s feline friend happily rubbed his back and then sat down on the other side of the couch.

He continued, “I’ll talk to the RHS in a minute about why they’re so excited about beetle gardens.”

Dave turned his attention back to the cat, gave it a quick pat on the back and said, “Hello!”

BBC Breakfast’s feline friend guest also proved a hit on Twitter – where viewers praised Dave’s handling of the situation.

One replied, “Nice. Very professional because he didn’t chase it away.’

Another added: “What a beautiful cat, just looking for love.”

Meanwhile, a third quipped, “They describe it as friendly, but it was more likely the cat said ‘you’re in my chair!”

However, this isn’t the first time a cheeky cat has made a surprise appearance on BBC News.

In June, royal historian Marlene Koenig was questioned by news anchor Sally Bundock when her cat jumped into her lap during the live interview.

The pundit appeared on BBC News just after 5am UK time via video call from her home in Virginia.

Just a few minutes into their conversation, Marlene’s tabby cat Fleur jumped onto the historian’s lap to get her attention.

Fortunately, Marlene anticipated her cat’s actions and grabbed hold of her cat and quickly lowered her back to the ground in one swift motion.
