Paulina Porizkova, 58, undergoes bilateral hip replacement surgery after one last bikini-clad vacation with her ‘old hips’

Paulina Porizkova announced she underwent “long-awaited” bilateral hip replacement surgery on Thursday after wearing out “all” her cartilage due to congenital hip dysplasia.

“The three doctors I saw all recoiled when they saw my X-rays,” says the Czech Republic-born 58-year-old – who has 1.1 million Instagram followers – wrote.

‘”Well, it’s bone on bone!” they exclaimed. “At least we know you have good pain tolerance!” In fact, it’s so bad that it’s pointless to do one hip at a time. It would actually hinder healing and mobility.’

According to the Mayo Clinic‘Hip dysplasia is the medical term for a hip socket that does not completely cover the ball part of the thigh, which can cause the hip joint to become partially or completely dislocated.’

Paulina (born Pavlína Pořízková) was grateful that it was “a problem that could be solved” and she found a doctor she “really trusts, someone who specializes in hip replacements.”

Porizkova’s post received supportive comments from her celeb friends Brooke Shields, Angie Harmon, Helena Christensen, Nigel Barker, Ali Wentworth, Ricki Lake and Marla Maples.

Fortunately, the Model CoOp-rehearsed beauty also has a lot of support from friends and family “who volunteer to bring me soup” and from “my love” Jeff Greenstein “by my side.”

Paulina and the 60-year-old photographer originally connected on a dating app January 3, 2023 – and the inseparable couple will officially celebrate their first anniversary on February 3.

Before going under the knife, Porizkova and Jeff enjoyed “one last vacation with (her) old hips” on the Caribbean island of Saint Barthélemy, which was “glorious and sometimes bittersweet.”

The silver-haired model writer first discovered St. Barts when she was 16 in 1981 during a business trip — most likely for Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue, which she published numerous times.

Paulina married her late husband – The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek – in St. Barts in 1989 and they took annual vacations there with their two sons Oliver and Jonathan in tow.

The six-time Grammy nominee died of natural causes in 2019 at the age of 75 – two years after he legally divorced Porizkova and disinherited her in his will after 27 years of marriage.

“This is the first time since then,” says the pro-aging activist wrote on Wednesday.

‘So many memories. And now @sjeffgreenstein and I have added new ones…A lot has changed. Both for the island and for me. But the essence is the same. In both of us, I hope.’

Ocasek (née Otcasek) was still married to his second wife Suzanne when he cast the then 19-year-old Paulina in his Drive music video in 1984.
