- Badosa is still on the sidelines, but cheered on her boyfriend at the US Open
A lovelorn Stefanos Tsitsipas made easy work of his first-round match at the US Open, crediting girlfriend Paula Badosa, who watched from his box, with giving him a new perspective on life.
The two tennis stars have taken the ATP and WTA Tours by storm since going public with their relationship at the French Open earlier this year.
Badosa and Tsitsipas were the talk of the match at Wimbledon, where they were set to play mixed doubles, but that would be dropped from the order of play due to an injury.
Now in New York Badosa, who has taken time off for the rest of her season due to an injury, her boyfriend roared to victory
Badosa’s season is over with an injury, but Tsitsipas was able to put the Spaniard in the spotlight quickly after his 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 victory.

The Greek soon paid tribute to Badosa, who ended her season early due to an injury
“Unfortunately, Paula is currently struggling with an injury, but I really wish her well and I am here by her side every day so that we can get stronger,” he said.
Tsitsipas was so eager to discuss his relationship ahead of the Flushing Meadows action.
“Love helps me understand that in life there is not only work and I can’t think about tennis 24/7, something I did in the past,” Tsitsipas said SuperTennis TV earlier this week.
“I met someone who helped me appreciate the most important values in everyday life. She helped me become a better person…”
In a separate interview with Esto, he added, ‘Paula inspires me to be the best version of myself, she helps me a lot in a positive way, she’s the kind of person who guides me.
“There isn’t a person who comes into your life and suddenly makes you win everything. I do not believe it.
“It’s just that being with the right person means forcing each other to make the most of their personalities and potential.”
The pair made headlines at Wimbledon when Badosa revealed at a press conference that she had a sex dream about her boyfriend in a bizarre overshare.

“Yeah, well, I got hurt in Australia. I saw his match, the final. Of course I was jet lagged because I was in Spain. I decided to watch that match,” she said.
‘Surprising, because I never dream about tennis players, but I dreamed about him that night, that we both won the Australian Open. Then it was like we had a very romantic moment, but I’m not going to explain it.’
“I’ll leave it at that,” she added with a laugh.
There was even more laughter and smiles in the New York players’ box, and she will hope she can be Tsitsipas’ guiding light in his pursuit of winning his first Grand Slam singles title.
