Paula Badosa gave a contender on Friday for the most awkward post-match interview of all time after pulling out of her second-round match at Wimbledon against Marta Kostyuk.

The 25-year-old was forced out of the second round by an injury during the second set and was then bizarrely told ‘Congratulations on your win’ by a confused interviewer.

She replied ‘I lost’, but the interviewer was undeterred and continued with two questions about missing games due to injury. Both got one-word answers.

Badosa once again clarified that she hadn’t won, before being questioned about her fitness and replying, “I just retired, so yeah, I wish I could be better.”

It was a disappointing end to Wimbledon for the Spaniard, who had been battling a back problem for the past few months and had raced to be fit in time for Wimbledon.

BADOSA’S WEIRD FULL Q&A

News reporter: Congratulations with your victory.

Paula Badosa: I lost.

News reporter: You have missed some matches due to an injury.

Paula Badosa: Yes.

News reporter: Can you tell us about your fitness and self-confidence?

Paula Badosa: FYI, I just lost. I didn’t win. So yes.

The moderator: She didn’t win.

News reporter: Not winning?

Paula Badosa: No.

News reporter: You have missed some matches due to an injury.

Paula Badosa: Yes.

Her last appearance on court was in May, where she reached the quarterfinals of the Inernazionali BNL D’Italia in Rome.

Badosa, who committed 20 unforced errors in the game, appeared to be uneasy on court 18.

She broke Kostyuk in their opening sessions on Friday but struggled to hold her serve and lost the first set 6-2 before going down 1-0 in the second.

Badosa was slated to team up with her friend Tsitsipas in the mixed doubles event where the pair would face Jessica Pegula and Austin Krajicek in the opening round, but will now withdraw from that as well.

She was caught on Center Court side-eyeing the coach and father of the Greek tennis player, Apostolos, during the titanic battle that resumes today.

The Spaniard glared at her boyfriend’s coach and seemed unimpressed with the 55-year-old.

Murray won the third set before play was abandoned at 11pm on Thursday night, putting him 2–1 ahead and one set shy of a third-round place.

Badosa already made headlines this week with a noticeably more vocal performance in which she revealed during a press conference that she had a sex dream about her boyfriend.

“Yeah, well, I got injured in Australia. I watched his match, the final. Of course I was jet lagged because I was in Spain. I decided to watch that match,” she said.

‘Surprising, because I never dream about tennis players, but I dreamed about him that night, that we both won the Australian Open. Then it was like we had a very romantic moment, but I’m not going to explain.

“I’ll leave it at that,” she added with a laugh.
