Paul Pogba made his first league start in over a year on Sunday night as Juventus took on Cremonese at the Allianz Stadium, but it was heartbreak for the midfielder to be substituted off injured.
The 30-year-old left Manchester United in the summer of 2022 and returned to his old side Juventus, but barely played for the Italian giants this season due to an injury.
In fact, his time at Old Trafford ended after he left the field with an injury in United’s 4–0 defeat to Liverpool in April 2022, the last time he was in the starting line-up for a competitive football match.
Pogba joined his former club and was in fact set to start a friendly against Guadalajara in Juventus’ pre-season, but would only play 45 minutes of that match before injury saw him out seven months later.
The French World Cup winner’s season has been plagued by soft tissue injuries and a recurring meniscus problem in his knee this season, meaning he has been absent from the World Cup and has made just nine league appearances for Juventus, totaling just 137 minutes.

Fans had lashed out at the Juve midfielder after he was seen dancing on a ski slope while still recovering.
Still, it looks like he’s been making strides towards playing again in recent times, with the 30-year-old appearing in all of Juventus’ last three matches.
Max Allegri even admitted how good it was to have the midfielder available for selection again, and while Pogba looked menacing on the pitch tonight, his latest injury will be a huge blow to both the Frenchman and his coach.
After receiving the ball on the edge of the box, Pogba turned his back on a defender, went in and unleashed a curly long shot towards goal.
His last full competitive start came in April 2022 in a Manchester United shirt before leaving the club
Pogba is slowly making a comeback in Juventus’ last three games
But he stopped a second later before falling to the ground, his head in his hands.
He was treated on the field before being taken off the field. He looked broken and pulled his shirt over his head.
Although his injury was a blow to Juve, Nicolo Fagioli put the home side ahead on 55 minutes before Gleison Bremer doubled the lead just over 20 minutes later.
The Old Lady are currently second in Serie A, with a win tonight putting them three points ahead of Inter Milan on 69 points.
