Paul Pelosi’s accused attacker David DePape – who ‘fractured his skull with a hammer during a burglary’ at Pelosi’s California home – is seen in court as jury selection for his trial begins

The 911 call shows Paul Pelosi trying to warn the dispatcher of who he is and the danger he is in, saying, “There is a gentleman here waiting for the return of my wife, Nancy Pelosi.”

David DePape’s voice is heard several times during the harrowing call, at one point identifying himself as a friend of Pelosi’s.

The 911 call in full:

Dispatcher: San Francisco Police Department 74.

Paul: Um, I think I accidentally called. Who is this?

Dispatcher: This is the San Francisco Police Department, do you need help?

Paul: Oh well, there’s a gentleman standing here waiting for my wife to come back, Nancy Pelosi. He’s just waiting for her to come back, but she won’t be here for a day, so I guess he’ll just have to wait.

Dispatcher: Okay, do you need police, fire, or medical assistance for anything?

Paulus: I don’t think so. I do not think so. Are the Capitol Police in the area, do you know? Usually they are here in the house to protect my wife.

Dispatcher: No, this is the San Francisco Police Department.

Paul: I know. I understand. Okay, what do you think?

David DePape: I think everything is good.

Paul: He thinks everything is fine, but I have a problem. He thinks everything is fine.

Sender: Okay. Call us back if you change your mind.

Paul: No, no. This gentleman just entered the house and wants to wait here until my wife comes home… (inaudible)

Dispatcher: Do you know who this person is?

Paul: No, I don’t know who he is. He says I shouldn’t do that, that I shouldn’t do anything.

Dispatcher: What’s your address, sir?

Paul: 2640 Broadway.

Sender: What is your name?

Paul: My name is Paul Pelosi. Anyway, this gentleman tells me… He tells me to put the phone down and do what he says. Okay?

Dispatcher: What’s the gentleman’s name?

DePape: My name is David.

Paul: The name is David.

Dispatcher: Okay, and who’s David?

Paul: I don’t know.

DePape: I’m a friend of theirs.

Paul: Yeah, he says he’s a friend.

Dispatcher: But you don’t know who he is?

Paulus: No, ma’am.

Sender: Okay.

Paul: He tells me I’m very leading, so I need to stop talking to you, okay?

Sender: Are you sure? Can I stay on the phone with you to make sure everything is okay?

Paul: No, he wants me to hang up the phone. Okay?

Sender: Okay.
