David DePape, the man accused of breaking into Pelosi’s home and leaving Paul Pelosi in critical condition, said he wanted to take the Speaker of the House hostage and “break her kneecaps” if she lied to him, according to the report. the FBI.
The suspect was reportedly carrying a cable tie when he broke into the couple’s San Francisco home — shouting “Where’s Nancy?” echoing scenes from the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
DePape was charged Monday with assault and attempted kidnapping by the Justice Department.
The suspect, who is now in custody, is expected to appear in court this week on separate charges. The San Francisco Police Department said DePape would face charges including attempted manslaughter, first-degree burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, grievous bodily harm, elder abuse, threatening a government official or family member.
Fox News reports that DePape had been living in the US illegally as a “prolonged” visa override.
