NEWSBURY
12:05 – Lime Avenue
She was a little over-enthusiastic in both of her starts this season and was disappointing in Hereford last time, where she went too fast and as a result she did not complete her race. I'm looking better now that she's going back to two miles in a first time hood to help her settle in better.
13:50 – Irish Hill
I'm putting some blinders on Irish Hill to try and sharpen him up as I'm not convinced he put everything in last time at this track. Hopefully he will be well above 127.
13:50 – Silent revolution
It was frustrating that he didn't participate in the fences last season and he has also had a number of problems. He's a little behind most of us after wind surgery in the summer and will likely improve for the run in a first-time draw before trying to chase again.
3:00 PM – Captain Teague
We have two great chances at a red-hot extension of this Class 1 race that we have won for the last three years and the more it rains the better for both my runners. Captain Teague ran well when he finished a close second under a penalty last time out at Cheltenham. He is an exciting prospect and will gallop all day.
3:00 PM – Farnoge
He is undefeated for us having won his bumper last season and both start over hurdles and have earned a chance in the Challow as I don't think he is far behind Captain Teague. He got everything at Ascot, the form looks useful, he continues to be good, continues to win and soft ground will be ideal for him.
Farnoge (L) is undefeated last season with his bumper and will race at Newsbury at 3 p.m.
15:35 – Golden Son
Last time the ground at Aintree was so deep that when they went too fast from the start he couldn't cope and was quickly pulled up. So if there is testing in Newbury, he will not participate. It was also the first time he came out of Ditcheat at night and who knows, maybe he got stressed.
We did all the tests on him after that and he was fine. As a precaution, I put on a tongue tie that he wore during most of his races in France. I was happy with his debut for us at Warwick and I hope he can come back from Aintree.
Taunton
12:25 – Swift Hawk
He was rated 72 on the flat for William Knight and has undergone a lot of training since joining us. He seems to be doing everything well at home and should improve from his debut experience over hurdles.
1:00 PM – Centara
He can light up but made an encouraging debut over hurdles at Newbury where he was keen and would have finished much closer but due to a silly mistake at the third last when he looked he was a big clumsy and almost ran out whilst strong went in front. I liked the way he rallied to finish fourth and we'll drop him this time and make sure he has a bit of cover. Solid chance at a track where he won his bumper.
2:10 PM – Larchmont Lass
A beautiful mare, she was progressive in three bumpers last season and made a respectable debut over hurdles when coming second behind a smart novice on this course two weeks ago. The ground was a little too fast for her that day and the more it rains in Taunton the better chance she will have. She must show improvement in her second start over obstacles.
15:55 – Individualistic
He won at this track in March, ran nicely when third on course and distance recently and looks to have a very good chance in this conditioning jockey race, ridden by Freddie Gingell. I also put cheek pads on Individualiste to focus his mind.
Best chance. Individualistic. He has strong claims that he is wearing cheek pieces for the first time.
