Paul Nicholls believes the Paddy Power New Year's Day Handicap Chase at Cheltenham is the 'perfect race' for two-time Grade One winner Stage Star ahead of his shot at the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
Stage Star is three from three in Cheltenham chases. His wins include the Turners Novices' Chase at the festival and the Paddy Power Gold Cup Handicap Chase in November.
Nicholls said: “He loves it there. I have no idea why, although he likes being left-handed. I enjoy running good horses with great weights and handicaps.'
