Paul Mescal has admitted he found rumors that he took part in one-night stands and then sprinted away in the middle of the night ‘hilarious’.
Earlier this year, the Normal People star, 28, became the subject of an urban myth about the ditch women on walks.
Film star Paul, 27, is often seen being chased through the streets by overzealous women in the hope of catching a glimpse of him.
But another unexpected layer of intrigue came over Paul when users on TikTok claimed he picks up women at bars at night and sprints away from them during a walk the next morning.

He said: ‘We were watching the videos and we were doing it ourselves. Categorically false.
“And we laughed, laughed, laughed, laughed… And the only thing that upset me was that I was in the kitchen. I remember my mother watching the videos and getting upset. Isn’t that devastating?
“I thought, Oh, it’s funny for us – my brother, me, my sister – because we know this is the way the internet works. It’s hilarious.
“If it were true it would be damn bad, but as a rumor it’s funny. Then I thought, Oh, when you’re a mother, her impulse is to come out and say, ‘He wouldn’t do this.’ ‘
One story claims that Paul was walking with a woman when he pointed to something on the ground for her to look at, and when she turned back around, he ran off in the opposite direction.
Representatives of the Aftersun star did not deny the rumors and decided not to comment.

He said: ‘I’ve always been convinced that I won’t live a long life… It’s like a gut feeling. And maybe it has something to do with the fact that I can’t visualize myself as an 80-year-old man.’

Paul’s most recent role was in the blockbuster Gladiator II – directed by Ridley Scott – and he has signed on for the next installment.
The actor considers himself a workaholic and says, “My agent openly calls me a psychopath when it comes to work… I never want this to stop. So there is a kind of neurosis of control involved.’
Paul is currently in a relationship with singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams, the daughter of filmmaker JJ Abrams.
Paul said he works hard to keep interest in his personal life out of the spotlight as much as possible.
He explained: ‘I’ve learned that there are certain lines in the sand for me now that are just going to be impenetrable for the sake of my own sanity… I mean, the speculation has been kind of crazy for the last X number of years… .
“I don’t feel comfortable inviting any access into that part of my life. How I am doing in my private life is so valuable to me because I hear very little about it. It may be of general interest, but it is not publicly required information.’
