Paul Merson has tipped Liverpool’s Joe Gomez to face Manchester City on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have shown poor form this season and are currently 10th in the Premier League, already 13 points behind reigning champions and title favorites City.

Merson, who predicted a 3-1 away win for Pep Guardiola’s side, said: Sportskeeda that center half Gomez – filling in at right-back in the absence of the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold – could be harassed by forwards Phil Foden and Jack Grealish.

He said: “Joe Gomez was also everywhere as a full-back against Arsenal and can’t see anything this weekend but a battle against Foden and Grealish.

‘Do I see Liverpool win? No. They still let in too many goals. Manchester City have (in-form striker Erling) Haaland in their house and will win many more games this season.

“I don’t see how Liverpool are going to stop them from scoring at least two goals this weekend.”

Gomez replaced Alexander-Arnold at halftime in Sunday’s 3-2 defeat to league-leader Arsenal and struggled against livewire Gunners winger Gabriel Martinelli.

However, the 25-year-old delivered a fine assist for Roberto Firmino when Klopp’s men defeated Rangers 7-1 in the Champions League at Ibrox on Wednesday night.

City’s attack is currently the best in the division, with 33 goals from their first nine games – 10 more than Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
