Paul Giamatti wore In-N-Out cufflinks to the Oscars as a good luck charm… after he went viral for celebrating Golden Globes win at fast food chain

Paul Giamatti wore a unique pair of cufflinks as a good luck charm at the star-studded 2024 Oscars.

The Holdovers star, 56, paid tribute to the viral In-N-Out moment he created almost two months ago, when he enjoyed a burger at the fast food chain shortly after his Golden Globes win.

And on Sunday, he decided to add some flair to his classic black tuxedo with a pair of red, yellow and white cufflinks with the In-N-Out logo.

The funky accessory was visible in two photos that his stylist Michael Fisher shared on Instagram. The actor happily held up his tuxedo sleeve as he showed off the finishing touches to his outfit, custom made by Cufflinks Depot.

Unfortunately, it didn’t help him win in the Best Actor category, with the golden statue ultimately going to Oppenheimer’s Cillian Murphy.

Giamatti’s viral moment at In-N-Out happened in January, after he enjoyed a very casual party following his Golden Globes win.

The actor skipped the glitzy afterparties and instead drove to fast food restaurant In-N-Out in Westwood, California, for a burger and fries.

Giamatti, who won Best Actor in a Comedy for the role, was still dressed to the nines in his black tuxedo as he enjoyed his meal.

His Golden Globe trophy lay visible on the table next to him, amid an order of hamburger and fries.

He even received applause from the other customers upon arrival, he said Page six.

According to the publication, he enjoyed the meal in the company of his girlfriend Clara Wong, his manager, his publicist and his agent.

“They went for a celebratory meal…he’s a huge In-N-Out fan, and it was a great way to celebrate before the festivities,” a source close to the actor revealed.

“People were clapping when he walked in… it was near UCLA, so there were a lot of students,” the insider added.

The crowd “respectfully waited until he finished eating, and then asked him for photos.”

Giamatti and friends reportedly ordered six classic “double-doubles”: a cheeseburger consisting of two beef patties, two slices of American cheese, lettuce, tomato, spread and onions.

Some fans hilariously pointed out that Giamatti eating at In-N-Out in a tuxedo was reminiscent of the scene from his 2004 film Sideways, in which his character Miles wears a suit and drinks an expensive wine while dining in a hamburger joint.

Giamatti also hilariously opened up about his viral fast food moment while accepting the Best Actor award at the Critics Choice Awards.

“Wow, guys. I didn’t think my week could get any better than going viral for eating a cheeseburger. Seriously, guys, I need that approval. So let’s all pray for me.’

After the awards ceremony, he joked with reporters that he would go to California’s favorite fast food chain again, but this time he would “stay in the car.”

Although Giamatti did not take home the leading actor Oscar on Sunday evening, his co-star Da’Vine Joy Randolph won for Supporting Actress.
