Patti Newton has revealed the heartwarming memento she always puts on stage to remember her late husband Bert following his death in 2021 at the age of 83.

The veteran stage actress, 78, made a phenomenal return to the theater last year when she took on a role in Cameron Mackintosh's musical Mary Poppins to cope with her grief.

As she dives into her next project, Grease The Musical, Patti told Ny Breaking Australia on Tuesday that she always wears a diamond-encrusted necklace in honor of her beloved husband.

“It's a bit of a secret, but Bert, and he travels with me everywhere,” Patti said as she showed off the statement piece tucked into the collar of her dress.

'I love it. I feel like he's with me,” she continued.

“I have quite a few things with me that belonged to Bert,” she continued.

“He will always be a part of me,” Patti said.

It's a fitting tribute to her husband, as Patti revealed he was the reason she decided to return to the theater after his death just days before their 47th anniversary.

As she dives into her next project, Grease The Musical, Patti told Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday that she always wears a diamond-encrusted necklace in honor of her beloved husband.

She said: 'When Bert died I wasn't sure how I was going to cope. When I was asked to play Mary Poppins, it helped me a lot.

“The family all said, 'Do it. It will be good for you.' I didn't want to be one of those people who lay in bed with a duvet over my head and couldn't get out and do things.

“Just before (Mary Poppins) finished, (Grease) came into view…I thought these messages came to me loud and clear. I'm sure they come from heaven.'

Patti told the Herald Sun last year that returning to theater was one of the “best things” she could do for herself because it helped her heal.

She added: 'And I knew Bert would want me to do it, it was a good thing for me.'

Patti went on to say that her late husband Bert will always be her one true love and that she is still haunted by his death in 2021.

'Bert will always be the love of my life. I will never stop thinking about him,” the artist said.
