Patriots’ Jack Jones has LEAVED the gun charge at the airport just days before the start of the NFL season — after making a deal with prosecutors and agreeing to 48 hours of community service

New England Patriots defenseman Jack Jones has had charges against him dropped after agreeing a deal with prosecutors over an incident that took place in June.

Jones was arrested at Logan International Airport in Boston, Massachusetts after two firearms were found in his carry-on.

Prosecutors agreed to drop eight of the nine charges against Jones in exchange for one year of probation and 48 hours of community service.

The 25-year-old was originally charged with two charges: unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a large-capacity magazine, and possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card. He was also charged with airport security violations.

Tuesday’s trial found that the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office dropped all gun charges. He was put on provisional probation for the security breach.

The Commonwealth states that, in accordance with its standard of judgment in all cases, it has thoroughly reviewed all the evidence in this case and has determined that it cannot be proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Mr Jones knew he possessed the firearms in his bag . at the time of the incident,” the prosecutor said in an official report MassLive.

The prosecutor also noted that Jones had purchased the guns in Arizona and was in the process of taking steps to obtain legal gun ownership in Massachusetts within the required 60-day period.

While this is the end of Jones’ lawsuit, it has yet to be determined if he will face further discipline under the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

Jones had spoken only briefly about his arrest and had referred any questions about the case to his lawyer.

“When I get here on the football field, it’s all ball,” Jones said in August. “I just come here to play with the ball, give it my all and do what I have to do for the team.”

Despite his pending case, he was part of the Patriots’ initial 53-man roster.

Last season, Jones recorded a total of 30 tackles and two interceptions as a rookie.

New England opens the regular season at home against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
