Patriots fan Dale Mooney was taunted before being beaten to death by a Miami Dolphins supporter and threw NO punches, according to grieving widow

The widow of a New England Patriots fan who was ‘beaten to death’ by a Miami Dolphins supporter has said he was taunted by his alleged killer before the attack began.

Season ticket holder Dale Mooney, 53, did not throw a single punch during the brawl that claimed his life at Gillette Stadium, according to his wife Lisa Mooney.

The father of two from Newmarket, New Hampshire, died just before 11pm on Sunday following an incident in the 300-tier segment of the arena.

The Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office said police responded to calls for medical assistance in the section at 10:57 p.m. and that “the case remains actively investigated.”

Lisa called her husband a “good father” to their two adult sons.

A photo from the Foxborough, Massachusetts, stadium shows EMTs rushing to resuscitate someone out of frame on the ground as concerned fans look on.

Video footage also shows security trying to break up a scuffle, and medics administering CPR shortly afterwards.

A witness at the scene, Joseph Kilmartin, described the alleged attack by a Miami Dolphins fan as “hard to watch.”

“They started wrestling each other for a few minutes,” Kilmartin said WCVB.

“At one point another Dolphins fan came by. He hit him three times, and the man just went out. It was pretty hard to watch.”

He said Mooney was punched twice in the face before falling unconscious into his seat.

Several other anonymous witnesses gave similar descriptions of the “brutal” attack that left Mooney “crumbling” as they spoke to Boston10 on the spot.

“One word I can really use is shocking,” said one bystander. “My thoughts go out to that man’s family. It’s terrible what happened,” another person commented.

Mooney’s devastated wife said she felt “numb” after hearing the horrific news about her husband and father-of-two, who has been a devoted Patriots season ticket holder for 30 years.

‘I feel numb. I can’t even believe this is real,” Lisa said WCVB.

‘I don’t understand why people have to go to that extreme. Why can’t it just be fun, that’s all it’s supposed to be, just a fun family event.”

She added that her husband had no known medical condition that caused him to faint, and that he “has the patience of a saint.”

“I don’t know what happened…it takes a lot to make him angry,” she said.

The Public Prosecution Service said the investigation into his death was following “normal protocol” and that an autopsy would take place in the coming days.

No arrests have been made following the incident.
