Patrick Mahomes wins his SECOND NFL MVP in resounding fashion by beating Super Bowl rival Jalen Hurts and Bills Josh Allen… while the Buffalo coach who saved Damar Hamlin also gets a vote!
Patrick Mahomes dominated the voting for the AP NFL Most Valuable Player award. Now, he will try to break the curse of the MVP.
Mahomes, who also won in 2018, easily edged out Jalen Hurts and received 48 of 50 first-place votes from a national panel of media members who regularly cover the league.
He had 490 points to 193 for Hurts, who had one first-place vote, 26 seconds, 11 thirds, and 10 fourths.
Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs (16-3) face Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles (16-3) in the Super Bowl on Sunday.
The last nine MVPs to play in the Super Bowl that season are 0-9. Kurt Warner was the last to win both the MVP and Super Bowl awards after the 1999 season.

Sunday’s opposing quarterback Jalen Hurts ranked second in MVP voting with 193 points.
Bills caller Josh Allen ranked third after a strong regular season with Buffalo.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen received the other first-place vote, finishing third with 151 points. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow placed fourth and Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson placed fifth.
Buffalo track trainer Denny Kellington received a vote from ESPN’s Suzy Kolber for his role in treating Damar Hamlin, who went into cardiac arrest on the gridiron against Cincinnati on Jan. 2.
Mahomes, 27, is the third player to win his second MVP before turning 28, joining Brett Favre (27) and Jim Brown (22).
Mahomes was the 2018 NFL MVP in his first full season as a starter.
The Chiefs lost the AFC Championship Game that season, but Mahomes led them to a Super Bowl victory over San Francisco the following season.
Mahomes has a chance to further add to his trophy cabinet on Sunday, having won a Super Bowl and the game’s MVP award.
During the regular season, Mahomes had a 67% completion percentage, throwing for 5,250 yards, 41 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
