Patrick Mahomes throws shade at axed Raiders coach Antonio Pierce… after his controversial plan to rough up QB
Before the NFL season kicked off, Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce revealed that his team would implement a specific play policy to address Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Obviously, that plan didn’t work and Pierce won’t be able to implement the so-called “Mahomes Rules” with the Raiders anymore.
On Tuesday, the Raiders fired Pierce after a disappointing 4-13 season that failed to hit the mark.
Recalling the outgoing coach’s comments, Mahomes took it upon himself to hit ‘like’ on the ESPN Instagram post announcing Pierce’s firing.
But it appears Mahomes may have “disliked” the post after his interaction with it was picked up on social media.
The Chiefs defeated the Raiders twice this season – both games ending with one-score victories for Kansas City.

In the first meeting, Mahomes completed 27 of 38 passes for 262 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in a 27–20 road victory that extended their then-undefeated streak.
The second meeting was even closer (a 19-17 Chiefs win at home), but Mahomes was even better, throwing for 306 yards (his third-best mark of the year) and one touchdown.
Pierce went 5-4 last season in an interim role with the Raiders after the firing of former coach Josh McDaniels.
He was elevated to the full-time role for this season but failed to improve from 8-9 in 2023.
The Raiders are now the sixth NFL team to undergo a coaching change this season, joining the New York Jets, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars.
On the other hand, Kansas City is the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs – with a bye all the way to the divisional round.
