Patrick Mahomes traded the NFL for the NBA this weekend, praising the “greatness” of Kyrie Irving and trading jerseys with Luka Doncic after the Dallas Mavericks’ buzzer-beater victory over the Denver Nuggets.
The 28-year-old Chiefs quarterback, who won his third Super Bowl ring with Kansas City in February, was at the American Airlines Center on Sunday to watch the seventh-seeded Mavs battle the reigning NBA champions. The Nuggets are currently trading places on a daily basis with the Oklahoma City Thunder as the West’s top seed.
Wearing a Dallas blue Louis Vuitton shirt, Mahomes sat courtside during the game with his wife Brittany, who paired a Canadian tuxedo — an all-denim outfit — with white boots.
Together they watched Doncic and Irving score a combined 71 points.
Doncic had 37, along with nine rebounds and three assists, while Irving went for 24 points, including a successful left hook shot from 20 feet away with 2.7 seconds left.

The Mavs point guard also had seven rebounds and nine assists.
“Greatness, Dawg. Greatness,” Mahomes told Irving after the game when they met in the tunnel.
“Yes sir,” Irving replied.

Mahomes also joined Doncic to greet Irving’s epic game-winner, presenting the Mavs star with a signed Chiefs jersey with his name and number on the back.
“Great game, man,” he told Doncic before referring to the playoffs, which start April 20.
‘Good luck on the way out. I’ll be right back. Definitely man, appreciate it.”
