Patrick Mahomes shuts down Travis Kelce’s attempt to speak at Kansas City Chiefs’ White House visit

During the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs’ usual visit to the White House, quarterback Patrick Mahomes hilariously stopped Travis Kelce from speaking.

Shortly after Mahomes and Kelce posed for a photo with President Joe Biden and his new No. 46 Chiefs jersey, the eight-time Pro Bowler approached the presidential dais and began by saying, “So I’ve been waiting for this.”

Before he could elaborate on what he was about to say, Kelce was quickly dismissed from the podium and led to his teammates by Mahomes, who then said, “I’m sorry. I’m sorry.’

While it remains unknown what Kelce might have said, it is well known that he is not afraid to make striking statements in front of a microphone.

One that made more than enough headlines was when he called out Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval during the playoffs this season.

Kelce chided Pureval as he held the Lamar Hunt Trophy in front of Chiefs fans after the AFC Championship game.

“I have some words of wisdom for that mayor of Cincinnati,” Kelce told CBS NFL commentator Jim Nantz, imitating a Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson catchphrase. “Know your role and shut up, ya jabroni.”

In another interview with CBS’s Tracy Wolfson, Kelce also taunted Bengals fans, including the mayor of Cincinnati, after grabbing the microphone from Mahomes. In it he shouted: ‘Burrowhead my a**. It’s Mahomes’ house.’

During the White House visit, Biden also mentioned his wife Jill, who is a staunch Eagles fan and “Philadelphia girl.”

“Fortunately, she is now overseas in the Middle East. She’s an avid Eagles fan and the way the game ended could give me a rough night,” Biden said jokingly.

Biden also added that while Eagles cornerback James Bradberry admitted that the crucial holding penalty against him that allowed the Chiefs to win the game was the right call, his wife still doesn’t think the call should have been made.

“If the Kelce family can make it work with Travis and Jason, the first two brothers to play each other in the Super Bowl, there is hope for the rest of us.”

Kansas City was unable to visit the White House when they won Super LIV over the San Francisco 49ers due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, making this visit long overdue.

Mahomes, Kelce and Co. wore suits for their trip to Washington DC on Monday.

The star quarterback wore a tight blue suit, while sleek Kelce wore a black T-shirt with a red jacket trimmed with some shades. The pair presented the president with a Chiefs No. 46 jersey.

The sun was shining for the Chiefs’ visit, and Mahomes was quick to mark the occasion by sharing videos and photos to his Instagram story.

He posted video of his teammates queuing outside the White House. Chiefs coach Andy Reid was seen up front, smartly dressed in a suit, complete with red tie and franchise-branded jacket.

Mahomes then took his 5.6 million followers behind the scenes, shooting video inside the White House itself.

He filmed seven of his teammates walking their stuff down a red carpet with Skyy Moore, one of those dancing their way through the building. The group performed the famous Memphis Grizzlies tunnel dance.

Mahomes had taken a selfie next to fellow quarterback Chad Henne and Moore with kicker Harrison Butker oblivious in the background.
