It's a safe bet to count Patrick Mahomes among Taylor Swift's army of fans.
In an interview with CBS, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback gave his reaction to the pop star's romance with Mahomes' old teammate, Travis Kelce, saying she has been good for the All-Pro tight end and for the team.
“She's just part of Chiefs Kingdom and she's part of the team,” Mahomes told CBS' Nate Burleson, himself a former NFL wide receiver.
As Gayle King noted after the segment aired, Mahomes clearly approves of Kelce's relationship with the pop star.
“At first I felt like everyone was staying away – just let him do what he was doing,” said Mahomes, describing the beginning of the relationship earlier this fall.
“And then he started bringing Taylor along and he realized how cool someone was, and she is, and so for us in the beginning there were a few jokes here and there,” he laughed.

Mahomes also discussed Swift's budding friendship with his own wife Brittney.
“It's cool that she's embraced Brittney and they've built a friendship as well,” Mahomes continued.
Most of all, Mahomes is happy to see his old teammate happy.
“For me, it's Travis, man,” Mahomes said. “He's lucky to have a great girl and a great wife. It was cool to interact with her and see her, because she's at the top of her profession, and watch her drive and become that. It's really cool to hear and see.
“And now I get to see that firsthand through the eyes of Brittney and Travis. It's really cool and I'm happy that she is the person she is, and that's why I think she and Travis fit together so well.”
