Patrick Mahomes meets Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann in Germany as the pair swap jerseys after Chiefs’ narrow win over the Dolphins

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes traded jerseys with Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann after Kansas City’s 21-14 victory over the Miami Dolphins in Germany.

The duo signed the jerseys before handing them to each other and then posing for photos on Sunday afternoon.

Both teams entered the game 6-2, with the Dolphins having the NFL’s best offense, averaging 33.9 points per game. The Chiefs ranked No. 4 with 23.4.

But Miami had yet to beat a team with a winning record, following losses to the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles. For a so-called AFC superpower, that worrying trend continued in Frankfurt.

Chiefs safety Bryan Cook returned a fumble 59 yards for what turned out to be a key touchdown in determining the closest outcome.

The pair then posed for photos with the signed gear

Mahomes threw two touchdown passes and the Chiefs (7-2) did just enough to slow the NFL’s top offense in the first-ever regular season game in Frankfurt, Germany, but the defending Super Bowl champions nearly blew a big lead.

The quarterback connected on scoring passes with Rashee Rice and Jerick McKinnon in the first half as Miami (6-3) kept getting stuck in third-and-long situations. The Dolphins also fell to 0-3 against teams with winning records this season.

Mahomes finished 20 of 30 for a season-low 185 yards in his European debut, but the Chiefs offense struggled in the second half.

Tight end Travis Kelce had just three catches for 14 yards, which was just enough to clinch the franchise’s career leader in receiving yards.

“Obviously, penalties and not connecting with guys deep down the field hurt us, but luckily our defense played along and we got the win,” Mahomes said.

Griezmann and Atletico, on the other hand, are currently fourth in La Liga with 25 points from their eleven games played.

The 32-year-old striker is currently tied with fellow striker Alvaro Morata for the team lead with seven goals.
