The Chiefs’ festivities outside Union Station in Kansas City descended into chaos Wednesday when shots rang out after stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce had just left the stage.

At least 10 people may have been injured, with several children reportedly rushed to nearby Children’s Mercy Hospital, and one is dead.

Super Bowl MVP Mahomes shared a post on social media about an hour after the shooting after the Chiefs were believed to have been escorted to Arrowhead Stadium.

“Praying for Kansas City…” the quarterback posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill, 28, also urged fans to join him in prayer in a post shared on social media.

“Please join me in praying for all the victims of this heinous act,” the Chiefs player wrote.

“Pray that doctors and first responders will have steady hands and that everyone will experience complete healing.”

The Chiefs have yet to confirm whether any members of the team or their family members were injured, but team buses left the scene about half an hour after the incident to return to Arrowhead Stadium.

The two gunmen were arrested, although their identities and motive remain unclear.

Police said they released everyone in Union Square about 15 minutes after the shooting.

The live broadcast on KSHB 41 showed crowds outside Union Station, where the parade ended, dispersing quickly with some jumping barriers to make a hasty escape.

Presenters said members of the crowd told them to get down and people ran inside.

They added that crew members said they heard a number of loud noises before fans began fleeing the scene near the museum and World War I memorial.

Moments earlier, stars Mahomes and Kelce had enjoyed their back-to-back Super Bowl victories, hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy in front of their adoring fans for the third time in five years.

But the festivities quickly turned into chaos and heartbreak.
