Patrick Mahomes clapped back to Dion Dawkins with one Instagram post after leading the Kansas City Chiefs past the Buffalo Bills in the divisional playoffs on Sunday.
After their 27-24 road win, Mahomes posted a few photos on Instagram to commemorate the victory. The first photo shows Mahomes celebrating, while the other shows him scanning the opponent during the play.
“Good luck,” Mahomes captioned with an alarm clock emoji.
On January 18, Dawkins wished Mahome’s luck after suggesting he wasn’t ready for the hostile environment that comes with his first road playoff game. Dawkins told ESPN: “(Mahomes has) only been here once. So he’s never been here before. Simple as that.’
“This is the dopest feeling I’ve ever had,” he added confidently after describing the playoff atmosphere in Buffalo. “We have two consecutive play-off games at home. Come on, like we’re going out and eating wings. It is cool. Good luck.’

Mahomes didn’t need the luck as he put in a showcase performance to secure the win. The two-time Super Bowl MVP completed 17 of 23 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions.
Buffalo looked to steal the game late in the fourth quarter before a Tyler Bass field goal miss sealed the win for Kansas City. Quarterback Josh Allen led Buffalo’s losing effort by rushing for two touchdowns and passing for one.
After the game, Mahomes talked about how they went into the game with something to prove, while praising the Bills fans for the energy they created.
“This is a great environment,” Mahomes said. “We’ve been hearing it all week man, about playing a road game. We were here to prove something, to show that we can play anywhere.”
The Chiefs finished the regular season with an 11–6 record atop the AFC West before defeating the Miami Dolphins in the wild card round. The win over Buffalo puts them next Sunday against the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship.
The Chiefs and Ravens kick off at 3:00 PM ET, while the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers play for the NFC crown at 6:30 PM.
