Patrick Mahomes is confident that his Chiefs teammate, Travis Kelce, and his pop star girlfriend, Taylor Swift, won’t be a “distraction” for the NFL ahead of the team’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football.
Speaking to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington on Sunday, the 28-year-old quarterback and two-time Super Bowl champion said, “I don’t think it feels any different.” People see the whole Taylor Swift and Travis (Kelce romance) and they make a big deal out of it because it’s a huge deal.
“I think it’s going to be a bigger problem for the fan bases than it is for the guys that are actually in the building.”
Kelce, 34, and Swift, 33, have been seen going on dates since September, when the Chiefs failed to get the singer’s number during her Eras Tour concert in Kansas City.
They eventually started dating after the eight-time Pro Bowler publicly courted Swift, who has since attended four Chiefs games, one in New York against the Jets, while the other three were at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

Interest in the NFL has never been higher since the pair became one of America’s most popular power couples.
“I was fortunate to meet Taylor and see how good she is,” Mahomes told ESPN on Saturday. “I think you can understand why it hasn’t become a distraction or anything like that, because everyone is looking forward to being the best they can be every day.”
Swift has become close to Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, and cheers on the Chiefs with her at home games. She even invited Brittany, 28, to her own viewing party at her New York City apartment earlier this month when the Chiefs and Miami Dolphins played in Germany.

“Taylor is loving her new friendships with the other wives and girlfriends of Travis’ teammates,” a source told US Weekly two weeks ago. “She appreciates that they know how to have fun just like her and she loves cheering on Travis and the Chiefs along with all of them.”
Mahomes and his wife are well-documented “Swifties,” as they attended her Eras Tour show in Kansas City in July. The Chiefs quarterback is hopeful he will attend another live performance by the singer next year.
“We’ll see when we get to the offseason, maybe I’ll travel to Europe and go to a concert or something,” he told ESPN.
Swift just returned from her tour of South America and will head to Japan in January to extend her Eras Tour.
