Patrick Mahomes has hilarious response to Travis Kelce attending NHL playoff game between Stars and Oilers: ‘Get out of my arena’

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a hilarious reaction when he saw his tight end, Travis Kelce, in Dallas to catch some NHL playoff action.

Kelce was in town to watch the Dallas Stars take on the Edmonton Oilers in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals.

As Kelce enjoyed himself in a suite next to golfer Bryson DeChambeau, Mahomes jokingly tweeted, “Get out of my arena!! @tkelce [laughing crying emoji] go to @DallasStars!!!’

Kelce laughed in response to that tweet, telling Mahomes, “Gotta love playoff hockey, baby!!! You’ve never skated before!’

The Stars Twitter account even intervened and said, “We can all be friends” as the joke continued.

As his tweet suggests, Kelce isn’t completely unfamiliar with hockey.

Growing up, Kelce played football, basketball and baseball in high school. But before all that, he was actually a minor hockey player in Ohio.

“I really love hockey,” read an old tweet that resurfaced after Kelce’s appearance at the Stars-Oilers game. ‘I haven’t taken a step forward since I stopped playing after eight years… But that has to change! I miss it too much.’

Kelce wasn’t the only famous athlete in the crowd on Saturday in Dallas. Former Mavericks star and NBA champion Dirk Nowitzki was also seen at the American Airlines Arena, where a statue of the German basketball legend now stands.

Facing a 1-0 series deficit after dropping Game 1 in double overtime, the Stars got on the board 3:39 into the first period when Jamie Benn scored off assists from Wyatt Johnston and Miro Heiskanen.

Edmonton player Connor Brown scored the equalizer a minute later on assists from Cody Ceci and Warren Foegele.

But that tie was finally broken at 3:41 in the third, when Mason Marchment beat Edmonton goalie Stuart Skinner after a series of missed chances for Dallas.

Edmonton’s comeback attempt failed, and after Skinner was pulled with just over two minutes to play, Dallas’ Esa Lindell put the game out of reach with an empty-net goal.

Dallas frontline center Roope Hintz and Oilers forward Adam Henrique both missed another game in these NHL playoffs after being scratched in Game 2.

Both players were described by their coaches as having match decisions.

Henrique missed his seventh straight game, and eighth of nine, since suffering an ankle injury in the first-round final against Los Angeles on May 1.

Hintz was out for the fourth straight game due to an upper-body injury. He hasn’t played since leaving in the first period of Game 4 of the Stars’ second-round game against Colorado on May 13.

Kelce will be racking up the air miles this summer as he flies back and forth across the Atlantic to support Swift.

The Kansas City Chiefs star has played the role of a doting boyfriend, supporting the pop superstar on her Eras Tour since she struck up a romance almost a year ago.

Most recently, the 34-year-old spotted the 14-time Grammy Award winner as she brought her sold-out show to Europe.

With the NFL season approaching, however, the three-time Super Bowl winner will have to perform a juggling act.

The tight end will reportedly go back and forth between Europe and the US as Swift continues her tour, which continues on Friday in Lisbon, Portugal.

Game 3 is Monday night in Edmonton, where the Stars won 4-3 in their only trip there this season. That was on November 2 during the Oilers’ 3-9-1 start, which led to Jay Woodcroft being fired as coach and replaced by Kris Knoblauch.

This marked the seventh straight time the Stars entered Game 2 of a best-of-seven playoff series coming off a loss, including all three this postseason. Marchment had scored in their 4–3 loss to Vegas in the playoff opener on April 22, left Game 2 with an undisclosed injury and then missed six games before returning in Game 2 of the second round against Colorado.

Edmonton center Leon Draisaitl was winless, ending his streak of opening points in the playoffs at 13 games. That was just shy of Mark Messier’s franchise record from 1988.

The teams traded goals 44 seconds apart early in the first period.

Benn scored on Dallas’ first shot on goal of the match, with a wrister from the top of the right circle that flew over the front of Skinner and into the bottom left corner of the net 3:39 into the match.

Edmonton, which outscored the Stars 17-4 in the first period, got it right when Brown scored on a rebound of Cody Ceci’s shot after initially getting the puck from Brown. It was Brown’s first goal this postseason, and the only other goal he scored for Toronto against Boston in 2018.

After going 0 for 5 on the power play in the series opener, including a double-minor penalty in the opening seconds of the first overtime that gave them a man advantage for four minutes, the Stars failed to score on their only power play in Game. 2.

That extended Edmonton’s streak to 20 dead penalties in more than six games since giving up a power-play goal in Game 3 of the second round against Vancouver.
